Teaching

Courses built around rigor, accessibility, and student growth.

My teaching experience spans discrete mathematics, algorithms, graph theory, accessible instruction, and introductory computer science across lecture, office-hour, and inquiry-based settings.

Philosophy

Teaching statement snapshot

My teaching centers on making mathematically rigorous material approachable without reducing its depth. Across lectures, office hours, grading sessions, and inquiry-based classrooms, I aim to help students move between concrete examples, formal reasoning, and collaborative problem solving.

I am especially drawn to courses in discrete mathematics and theoretical computer science, where students benefit from clear exposition, repeated practice, and space to ask questions as they build confidence with proof, abstraction, and algorithmic thinking.

Pedagogical commitments

  • Explain technical and visual material accessibly for different learners
  • Use active problem solving and responsive office-hour support
  • Pair rigor with clear structure, examples, and iterative feedback

Classroom practice

I design courses and support materials around clear goals, structured problem solving, and frequent opportunities for students to ask questions and revise their understanding.

Pedagogical strengths

My teaching experience reflects inclusive pedagogy, broad course preparation, thoughtful assignment design, and strong alignment between learning goals and classroom practice.

Mentoring

Advising, support, and student engagement

My teaching work has included holding office hours, writing homework and exam problems, debugging code with students in real time, and helping students navigate visually intensive technical material. I care about meeting students where they are while helping them build the habits of mind needed for success in mathematically demanding computer science courses.
